Fine Arts and Art Installation Design The Notion Coffee Table by Idan Chiang of L'atelier Fantasia The Notion is a coffee table inspired by abstract thought forms. The table top is marble, and the legs are formed by irregular spheres stacked into columns. The spheres are shaped with sculptural craftsmanship and given a colorful glossy lacquer finish. The uneven surfaces recall bubbles in boiling water and reflect light in changing ripples from every viewing angle. The coffee table is 75 cm in height and 105 cm in diameter. The round and balanced form allows the piece to sit low in a room while acting as an artwork within the space.
