East and West Ceramic Crafts

Chao Yang

Fine Arts and Art Installation Design East and West Ceramic Crafts by Chao Yang East and West is a series of ceramic handicrafts shaped like ants. Each ant sculpture measures 160 millimeters in length, 120 millimeters in depth and 300 millimeters in height. The form is made by sculpture mold turning and fired at a high temperature of 1300 degrees. Recycled blue and white paper collected from workshops in Jingdezhen is combined with modern electroplating, joining Eastern decoration with Western style. Because the recycled paper differs in each piece, every ant is unique. The series expresses the idea of recycling and environmental protection.
