Fine Arts and Art Installation Design Memory Fine Art Object by Juri Akiyama “Memory” is primarily a reconstruction of a magazine page, made by weaving together the unevenly shredded page and its copies. Its repetitive, mutational, and uniquely painterly process makes the up-close image complementary to the overall evanescent impression. The lateral exploration of details in the grid reflects the artist’s interpretation of memory as a flat plain, in which moments coexist regardless of the time axis. In the painstaking process, the original image fades into oblivion, and gets deconstructed to be reconstructed as the exoskeleton of itself.
